POST 9 (WEEK 13): A PHOTOGRAPH YOU LIKE

I have been taking photos without a break since the beginning of the summer. I use several vintage cameras I have bought online with different types of films trying to learn and experiment with how light interacts with the 35mm rolls. I have been taking photos of a bunch of different things like landscapes, streets, people, nature, museums, my pets and a lot of adventures with my friends. I think it’s too hard to choose just one photo, but if I had to choose a few this is definitely among my favorites so far. It depicts the Osorno volcano at the golden hour, the time when the sun is starting to go down. The photo was taken about four months ago when I was with my friends driving around Llanquihue lake and suddenly decided to go up to see the sunset and play with the snow. The road was a little bit tough because it was full of curves and certain parts were totally frozen, but after driving very carefully we got to the top just in time to see the show from start to finish. I remember the...

POST 8 (WEEK 11): SUMMER HOLIDAYS

Yesterday I was just talking with my friends about our plans for the next summer holidays. Every year we take a few weeks to stay at some beach and other different places to explore and party until the sun comes up. Over the years our goal has grown up the same as we age and thankfully now we’re at a point where we can make almost anything we want, including the chance to make a road trip to other countries like Argentina. The plan’s simple: we’ll take some money, buy a couple of supplies, get in the car and drive to new lands across the map as long as we have enough bucks to keep it going. Our first stop will obviously include Bariloche, which is one of the most beautiful and nicest towns near the border. We are hoping to stay a few days there and then move to other places surrounding the southside of Argentina like San Martín de Los Andes, El Bolsón, and so on. Our main goal is to start in Osorno, drive to Argentina and finally get back to Chile through Paso Tromen near Pucon because...

POST 7: FREE POST

Since I was a kid I’ve been obsessed with computers. I always felt like it was some kind of magic box where everything was possible. I remember being a total nerd when I was a teen, like a child expert on a lot of state of the art things just because I loved to learn about everything new. My friends and family reached me everytime they needed to fix something or install new softwares on their computers. I learned how to code at the engineering school when I was 18 and since then everything got more complex and interesting. I build apps, games and software capable of doing everything I want. Lately I’ve been working on my final project at the art school and it involves the use of artificial intelligence in the production of art. Artificial intelligence it’s a simple way to resume the complexity of a complex process with a lot of operations that analyze big amounts of data to create new one. In the particular case of arts, artificial intelligence it’s able to process a lot of images from...

POST GRADUATE STUDIES

I’m not really planning to study after I graduate, at least not in the traditional way. This will sound a little bit strange, but I think all these years inside the art school are like my post graduate studies. Don’t get me wrong, I love studying arts and everything around it, but I feel I’ve spent too many years learning different kinds of things and I think it’s time to stop, take a break and do anything else I want. My life at the university started way before this on the opposite side of the art world. For almost four years I was a student (a bright one tho) at the engineering school where numbers and binary codes ruled all the aspects of my life (and my mind). After a while I decided to make a radical choice and get away from that path to be something else. Now I’m in my last year at art school and I just want to go outside and work on my dreams without the need to spend so much time and money for a few pounds of knowledge. Of course I’m always learning new things and always will ...

MY FUTURE JOB :O

I've always been thinking about what kind of job I will love to have in the near future. A bunch of years ago when I was studying engineering my dream job was to be some sort of a leader in a big company where everyone was happy and full of money. I know it sounds like the classic cliché but at that time I was blindfolded by all the pressure from the people around me and I was ok with it. Luckily enough I managed to scape from that nightmare haha. Now I'm in the last few months at the university and finally it's the time where I can really think about what I want to do in the years to come. Obviously almost all the options I'm thinking of a dream job are related to the art world. I would like to be someone who can bring artists and people together across all the universe. Work at a museum or an art gallery would be nice, but actually non-traditional art platforms are at this moment my  favourite option. I don't really mind about how money I can get as long as the jo...

Playtime by Jacques Tati

Most people may not know Jacques Tati. He was a French actor, director and screenwriter born in 1907. Like Charles Chaplin or Buster Keaton, Jacques was an incredible physical comedy performer, also known as slapstick. The cool thing about Jacques is that he starred, wrote and directed all of his films.   I got into his filmography during the pandemic when I was at home trying to watch something new when suddenly I fell in love with the miniature of Playtime. I didn’t know anything about Jacques Tati or what the movie was about, but thankfully I gave it a chance. The plot of the movie is simple: Monsieur Hulot has an important meeting but he gets lost among all the buildings and people living in a futuristic and hyper-consumerist Paris. It’s a beautiful comedy about confusion in modern times with a ton of scenes that will make you laugh and think about this era full of technology and people running from one place to another.  Watch Playtime on Amazon Prime or Mubi, I promise y...

First time at Lollapalooza

I was sitting on my bed at 4pm when somebody told me about a job offer at lollapalooza. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of working in my free time, but it was the only chance I have to get inside this amazing festival full with all the bands and shows I love for free. I dressed up quickly and run at the gates of Parque Ohiggins to get my staff bracelet and get ready to work inmediatly. It was a hot sunny friday. Once I got there I was shocked to see so many people around the park. The first three hours I worked filling cups and selling snacks, but after a while I found a way to sneak out and see the headliners of the first night: Kendrick Lamar, Fisher, Twenty One Pilots and more! The next two days I went straight to enjoy the shows and forgot all about the work I was supposed to do. It was so much fun! I even meet with a friend and spent all two days running from one stage to another to see all the bands we wanted. It seems like the people behind the festival never knew about this be...
